Menu Security

As administrators setup the menu layout, they have the ability to determine who can and cannot see a menu item or sub menus. By default, if administrators do not assign security to a parent menu all users will see the menu and sub menu tree when the Menu Set is enabled. When administrators assign specific security to a given menu item, only the users in the assigned groups will see it. Once security is assigned to a single menu item, all child menu items will not be visible because the parent menu item has security assigned to it.

Menu items that are accessible to VaultAdmin, or VaultAccess users such as User Admin, or Menu Admin can be configured to be visible to any users in VisualVault, but those items will bring the user back to My Vault if the user is not a member of the VaultAdmin or VaultAccess group.

To assign security to a menu item, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Control Panel - Administration Tools - Menus.

  2. Select Edit Menu on the Menu Set you wish to configure.

  3. Select the menu branch you want to configure in the left hand pane.

  4. If you need to navigate to a sub menu item, select the next branch down in the right hand pane.

  5. Repeat step 4 until you navigate to the sub menu, or menu item you wish to configure.

  6. Now that the item you want to configure has been selected, Select Edit on the left hand side.

  7. The Menu Item ID card will appear at the bottom of the screen.

  8. Select the Security Tab.
