COMPLIANCE
The art of compliance is developing a whole organization, or holistic approach to systems management which is lean, effective and efficient. Quality systems contribute to the promotion of faster, better and cheaper means of doing business and provide a framework for competitiveness. Any organization that views quality solely as a cost center is probably lacking serious commitment or does not recognize the inherent value.
Most modern compliance systems are modeled after the ISO9001:2000 standard that defines the basic requirements to establish a system that encourages continual improvement. The act of product or service fulfillment is part of a broader process aimed at reducing or eliminating waste, or using knowledge gained to better the organization.
Compliance systems also suggest the use of a three tier data management taxonomy. The top level, or Policy level should be considered part of business strategy. The operating procedures (SOP's) reflect the actual practices of the organization.
Data, work instructions and other relevant information should represent the third tier of organization.
